One person is in the hospital after a propane explosion Wednesday night in Stevens county.

It happened just before 5:00pm in the 4300 block of Hesseltine Road between Springdale and Valley, Washington.

When emergency crews arrived they found an injured woman in her 70's outside of her home which was completely engulfed in fire.

The woman was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Chewelah with burns to most of her upper body. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Immediately crews from Stevens County Districts #1 and #4 began putting the fire out.

Access was an issue for crews, along with concerns about all the propane tanks on the property ranging from 5 gallons all the way to 150 gallons.

Firefighters said there was no electricity to the home and the propane was most likely used for heat.

Dogs living with the woman were not located by firefighters.

They tell us they will remain on scene most of the night dealing with tanks still leaking propane.

Investigators will be back on scene Thursday morning as they look for a cause which remains under investigation.

That sounds about right for the area, right? Well this house is a bit of a fixer upper. The kind with lots of potential if you invest the time and money.  Currently, however, it is shown on the real estate site Redfin in less than perfect condition.
