Spokane Building Fills With Deadly Smoke

SPOKANE, Wash. - SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Firefighters were called out to an warehouse early Thursday morning after it filled with potentially deadly smoke.

Around 1:30 a.m. a police officer saw smoke coming from the Global Metal Technologies building near 3200 E. Trent in Spokane.

The company processes ore tailings and extracts minerals.

Firefighters say a mineral sample inside the building was smoldering and putting off deadly hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide gas.

Crews were able to vent the building and release the gas into the air.

There was never any danger to the public and no one was hurt.

The Washington State Department of Ecology was on scene to make sure everything was safe.
