Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The number one team at the start of last season's NCAA Tournament will start the 2013-2014 campain as the number 14 team in the nation, according to a preseason vote in the USA Today coaches poll.  Gonzaga, which finished number 12 in the final coaches poll last spring, garnered 270 points to edge Virginia Commonwealth for 14th.

The Bulldogs return two starters (Kevin Pangos, Gary Bell Jr.) from last year's squad that went 32-3 and earned a first-ever number 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.  Gonzaga is 64 points behind #13 Memphis in this year's preseason poll.  The Zags and the Tigers will face off in Memphis on February 8th for ESPN College Game Day.

Gonzaga will open the season October 25th against Simon Fraser in an exhibition game that will be aired live on KHQ.  The regular season opener is November 9th against Bryant University and will also be broadcast live on KHQ.
