UPDATE: Wrong Way Driver Who Caused Crash On Highway 195 Dies
The Washington State Patrol has confirmed that the woman who was driving the wrong way on Highway 195 last week has died as a result of her injuries.
93-year-old Evelyn Emery was taken to Sacred Heart on October 17th following the crash and passed away on Monday in the hospital.
The other driver, 60-year-old Kathleen Babbitt was also taken to the hospital following the crash. Her condition is unknown at this time.
Emergency responders were called to a head-on collision on Highway 195 near 16th, just south of I-90 Thursday night.
It happened just before 7:00pm in the southbound lanes of Highway 195. Officials say an elderly woman was driving the wrong way down the highway when she hit another car head-on. Both drivers suffered multiple injuries, but we are told they were conscious and alert when they were transported to the hospital.
We are told the elderly woman who was driving the wrong way was reported as missing by her family a short time ago. She has been identified by the Washington State Patrol as 93-year-old Evelyn Emery.
The driver of the other car that was hit has been identified as 60-year-old Kathleen Babbitt.
