Former Vandal Barone Turns Pro

By University of Idaho Athletics

Former Idaho men's basketball player and 2013 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year Kyle Barone has officially turned professional, as he signed a contract with PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Poland.

"What a great accomplishment for Kyle," Idaho head coach Don Verlin said. "To sign with a major team over in Europe, what a great chance to start building your professional resume. I truly believe one day we will see Kyle in the NBA, he's just that type of player once he grows up and gets bigger and stronger and learns to play at that level. I think you'll see him continually get better like he did here at Idaho."

Barone averaged 17.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 blocks per game for the Vandals last season, and left Idaho as one of the most prolific big men in program history. His 126 games played are a program record, as he never missed a game in his four-year career. His 869 rebounds are second in program history and his 1,433 career points are third best.

In addition to Barone, former Vandal point guard Landon Tatum has signed a professional contract with Germany's Gotha II.  Tatum started all 33 games for Idaho in 2011-12 and averaged 7.4 points, 4.7 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game.
