Former Bengal Signs With Fever

Posted: Updated:

The Tri-Cities Fever would like to announce the signing of running back Jay Finley.

Running back Jay Finley most recently was a member of the Seattle Seahawks practice squad, but was drafted in the 7th round by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Finley had a very successful career at Baylor University where he broke the teams single season rushing record his senior season with 1,218 yards. He is also 3rd on the all-time rushing list, and holds the single game record for rushing yards with 250 against Kansas State. Finley also had the second longest run in the history of Baylor University at 82 yards his senior season when he and teammates Robert Griffin III and Kendall Wright led Baylor to the 2010 Texas Bowl.

"When you watch Jay Finley on film his abilities to both run between the tackles and catch the football jump off the screen." Coach Adam Shackleford said of Finley and his signing with the Fever. "He is working hard and has dedicated himself to make the Tri-Cities a stepping stone, and a great place to help him get back to the NFL. When you rush for 1200 yards in the big 12 you are a premier back."

Finley is from Corsicana, Texas just outside Dallas and attended Corsicana High School. Jay was rated the 49th best running back out of high school nationally and was honorable mention all-state for Texas. He will join fellow Texan Keithon Flemming in the backfield to make the Fever a rushing attack to be reckoned with in 2014.
