Chiefs Power Past Brandon, 7-1

SPOKANE, Wash., -- Reid Gow collected a career-high four assists, and Mitch Holmberg added a goal and two assists of his own, to help lead the Spokane Chiefs to its 11th win of the season, 7-1 over the Brandon wheat Kings in front of 4,720 fans at the Spokane Arena on Friday night.

Gow assisted on Spokane's second, third and fourth goal. It wasn't until the 13:41 mark in the third period on a power play when Gow found Holmberg on a breakaway to earn the defenseman's fourth assist. After that goal, the Wheat Kings pulled goalie Curtis Honey in favor of Jordan Papirny. Honey allowed six goals on 22 shots.

Keanu Yamamoto scored his first career WHL goal in the third period. Jason Fram and Riley Whittingham each earned an assist after finding the WHL rookie in front of the crease for Spokane's seventh and final goal of the night.

Goalie Eric Williams also had an outstanding game, stopping 35 of 36 shots. It wasn't until 3:13 left in the game, and a 5-on-3 power play for Brandon, when the Wheat Kings prevented the shutout. Eric Roy had the goal.

The Spokane Chiefs will host the the Portland Winterhawks tomorrow, Saturday, October 26th, in a show down for first place in the Western Conference. The game, with Avista Enegry Efficiency Night and Glow Sticks Giveaway, begins at 7:05 at the Spokane Arena.
