The Western Hockey League announced today that Spokane Chiefs' forward Mitch Holmberg is the Denny's WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 10, 2013.

Holmberg recorded nine points on five goals and four assists to go with a +4 rating over three games in the last week, helping lead the Chiefs to a 2-1-0 record on the road in that span, and earning his second Denny's WHL Player of the Week honors of the season.

On Wednesday, November 6th, Holmberg tallied a goal - the overtime winner - and chipped in two assists while being named the game's 2nd Star in a 5-4 victory over the Tigers in Medicine Hat. On Friday, November 8th, Holmberg recorded his second hat trick of the season while adding an assist and earning 1st Star honors as the Chiefs defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 6-2. On Saturday, November 9th, Holmberg notched a goal and an assist as the Chiefs fell 3-2 to the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook, B.C.

Holmberg, a product of Sherwood Park, AB, currently leads all WHL players in scoring with 23 goals and 51 points in just 21 games this season, and has recorded at least one point in 20 of the 21 games he's played.

The 20-year-old, five-year WHL veteran was the Chiefs' first-round pick, 21st overall, in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. Holmberg has played 263 career regular-season games for Spokane, amassing 108 goals and 229 points.

Holmberg was also awarded WHL Player of the Month Honors for September/October.
