Mitch Holmberg scored two goals and collected two assists, and captain Reid Gow was credited with three assists of his own, as the Spokane Chiefs topped the Prince George Cougars 5-2 at the Spokane Arena on Friday night.

With 8 minutes and 35 seconds left to play in the game, Spokane and Prince George were tied at 2 and both teams had 23 shots. Not a minute later, Holmberg and Gow found Jason Fram in front of the net to break the tie. Three minutes later, Holmberg scored his second goal of the night, this one after Gow found the right wing skating down the right side of the ice shorthanded. Holmberg wrapped around the goal and whipped the shot off goaltender Ty Edmonds' back. Liam Stewart added his fifth goal of the season, an empty-netter near the final buzzer.

Mike Aviani scored Spokane’s first goal on a power play after an assist from Holmberg. Aviani and Holmberg now have 20 total power play goals combined, which is more than eight other WHL teams combined.

Holmberg, who leads the WHL in scoring, now has 25 goals and 30 assists on the season for 55 total points. Gow, who assisted on Spokane’s final three, tie-breaking goals now has 28 assists to cement him second on the team.

Prince George was led by former Spokane Chiefs player Todd Fiddler. Fiddler, who was traded to Moose Jaw before the season begin, and again just recently to Prince George, had one goal and one assist for the Cougars.

The Spokane Chiefs will host the Regina Pats tomorrow, Saturday, November 16th. The game begins at 7:05 PT at the Spokane Arena. Tickets for all Chiefs games are available via the Chiefs Ticket Office at (509) 535-PUCK, at all TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
