Holt is Pac-12 Freshman Volleyball Player of Week for Third Time

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Washington State's Kyra Holt was named the Pac-12 Volleyball Freshman of the Week for her play during the week of Nov. 11-17.

 

Holt, a 6-1 outside hitter from Hercules, Calif., had 31 kills to lead the Cougars during the two five-set matches last weekend, including the 13 kills in WSU's 3-2 come from behind win against No. 4 USC in Pullman Nov. 17. Down 14-8 in the fifth set, Holt had four kills in WSU's final 13 points to win the set 21-19 and the match 3-2. Holt also tallied 19 digs and four blocks in the upset win over USC. Against UCLA, Holt had 18 kills, nine digs and four blocks.          

 

Holt leads the team offensively with a 3.85 kps average and a 4.52 pps average, both which are seventh-best in the Pac-12. Her 0.29 service aces per set average leads the Cougars and is eighth-best in the Pac-12. Holt has recorded double-digit kills in 26 of the 29 Cougars' matches this season and has had 11 double-doubles with kills and digs. Her 420 kills this season is 28 from 10th-best on the WSU all-time single season list. Earlier this season, Holt was named MVP of the Army Black Knights Invite and the MVP of the Sam Houston State Invite and was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week 9/2-8 and also 10/28-11-3.

 

This is the 24th time a Cougar volleyball player has been selected for a conference player of the week honor and the third time for a freshman of the week nod.

 

WSU plays at No. 6 Stanford and at No. 20 California this weekend.
