SPOKANE, Wash. -

Christmas shopping in downtown Spokane wouldn't be complete without a giant Christmas tree to get you in the spirit. If you've been in downtown lately, then you know that the tree in River Park Square has been put up and is ready to go. Soon shoppers will be able to get their pictures taken with Santa under the tree.

Unlike the tree that was plucked from the Colville National Forest earlier this month to be taken to our nation's capitol, the River Park Square Tree is simply brought out of storage. It takes 3 days to put up, but you can watch all of that in about minute, by checking out the video attached to this story.

The numbers on the tree are quite impressive too. The tree stands 50 feet tall, and that includes a 4 foot tall star on top. Its 689 branches are covered from top to bottom with 10,000 LED lights and about 2,700 ornaments.

Much like trees in homes across the area, the River Park Square tree will stand tall next to the windows of the shopping center, signaling the Christmas season for the next few weeks.

And when Santa completes his journey around the world, and we start preparing for the new year, the tree will be taken down and stored until next year. But you may be asking, "Where do they store it?" Good question. The gigantic faux fur is actually stuffed beneath the Nordstrom sidewalk on Main St.

That is your holiday fun fact for today!

Have fun everyone, and enjoy the tree!
