5 Kids Unresponsive After Car Lands In Pond

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (AP) - Authorities say five children are being treated at Minneapolis-area hospitals after a car plunged off a highway ramp and into a holding pond.

The crash happened Thursday during the early-morning rush hour in St. Louis Park, a western Minneapolis suburb.

Highway Patrol spokesman Eric Roeske (ROSS'-key) says he doesn't have updated conditions on the children.

City spokeswoman Jamie Zwilling said earlier Thursday the children were unresponsive when they were pulled from the car. Two of the kids are 5 years old; the others are 1, 6 and 7.

Roeske says the 23-year-old woman driving the car is in stable condition. She got out on her own.

The accident happened shortly after 6 a.m. when roads were wet, but not icy.
