Man Struck By SUV In East Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Police are investigating a crash involving an SUV and a man near the Spokane River.

It happened just before 6:00pm Friday night at the intersection of Trent Avenue and Iron Court near the Union Gospel Mission.

Investigators say a man in his 60's was crossing Trent when he was hit by the SUV and thrown.

The man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition with serious head injuries.

Because of the severity of the injuries, investigators are reconstructing and mapping the scene.

The woman driving the SUV is cooperating with officers.

At this point it's unknown what caused the crash and it remains under investigation.

    SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Emergency rescue crews pulled a man from the Spokane River in the middle of training to do that exact thing. The Spokane Valley Fire Department reports that a man jumped from the Trent bridge just east of N. Pines Rd. into the Spokane River. The SVFD Special Operations team just happened to already be in the area conducting swift water training at the time and were able to quickly respond with Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies who were also near by.
