Spokane Police: Charges Submitted to Prosecutor From 2012 Shooting

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: Spokane Police have submitted charges to the Spokane County Prosecutor's Office requesting charges of 1st Degree Assault, 1st Degree Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Burglary for 36-year-old Christopher D. Sheldon. These charges are related to a shooting incident occurring on October 19, 2012.

Sheldon is currently in jail in Aberdeen, WA and will be transported back to Spokane in the coming week.

PREVIOUS PRESS RELEASE: Spokane Police are searching for the suspect in a north Spokane shooting incident that happened last night. 

Witnesses say a man broke into an apartment, exchanged gunfire with the occupants and fled on foot. 

Despite quick response and the use of a K-9 search team, the suspect is at large.

Just after 9 pm Spokane Police Patrol Officers responded to a shooting at the Hill N Dale apartment complex near Colton and Magnesium in North Spokane.

Victims told detectives a man broke through a sliding glass door, armed with a gun. The teens inside the apartment yelled for their dad, who was in another room. The man in his 50's grabbed his own firearm and confronted the suspect. 

Shots were exchanged between the two and the suspect fled. The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.Responding officers utilized a K-9 to search for the suspect, as well as numerous officers. 

The suspect description given to officers by the victims is very limited at this time, he is described simply as a male. No one has been arrested in connection with this shooting, and the motive remains unclear.

Troopers responded to Chase Road, west of Rathdrum, around 1:15 p.m. Investigators say 20-year-old Brady Robert McPhail of Osburn, Idaho, was traveling eastbound in a white 2010 Buick Lucerne when he went into the westbound lane of traffic.

Investigators say 26-year-old John L. Scott of Lancaster, Pennsylvania,  was headed westbound on SR 290 east of Flora in a 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup when he crossed the center line into the oncoming lanes of traffic.
