Pangos Repeats As WCC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. (December 2, 2013 – http://www.gozags.com) – Gonzaga University junior guard Kevin Pangos is the West Coast Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the second straight week.

            In four games the native of Holland Landing, Ontario, averaged 22.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.5 assists/game, 1.3 steals/game and averaged 33.5 minutes/game as Gonzaga went 3-1. He went 26-for-48 from the field for 54.2 percent, 15-for-28 from 3-point range for 53.6 percent and 21-24 from the line for 87.5 percent while compiling a 4.5 assist/turnover ratio.

            Pangos was named to the 30th annual EA Sports Maui Invitational All-Tournament team, averaging 26.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 4.0 apg and 1.5 steals/game as Gonzaga went 2-1 and finished fifth. In the three tournament games he went 23-for-39 from the field for 59.0 percent, 12-21 from 3-point range for 57.1 percent and 21-for-24 from the line for 87.5 percent. His career-high 34 points paced the Bulldogs over the University of Arkansas as he went 10-15 from the field, 7-8 from 3-point range and 7-8 from the line while dishing out 4 assists and collecting 1 steal against the Razorbacks.

            He scored 27 points against Dayton and 18 against Chaminade in Gonzaga's other two tournament games.

            After playing four games this past week, the 7-1 Bulldogs have just one outing on the docket this week when New Mexico State University visits for an 8 p.m. game in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
