Clarkston Head Football Coach Announces Resignation
CLARKSTON, WA - Clarkston High School Head Football Coach, Dave Curtis, submitted a letter of resignation effective immediately, pending Board approval. Coach Curtis currently serves as the P.E. teacher at CHS and will remain in this position.
Curtis has served as Head Football Coach at CHS for twenty-eight years. He stated that he has truly enjoyed time coaching in Clarkston and that now is the time to step back. Clarkston High School anticipates posting the Head Football Coach position in March 2014 with the hopes of offering a teaching position to accompany the job.
CHS Assistant Principal of Athletics, Mr. Shannon Wilson, expressed his thanks to Coach Curtis for nearly three decades of service to Clarkston's athletics.
"It was a privilege to work with Dave as he gave countless hours watching film, watching teams, taking our student athletes to camp, and giving many memories to our community," Wilson said. "I know it was a tough decision for him, but he felt it was the time was right and we accepted his resignation on Wednesday night."
Wilson emphasized that it is nearly unheard of for a coach to remain in one place for 28 years. Coach Curtis actually coached 38 years as a head coach (10 years at DeSales in Walla Walla).
"This is a testament to his dedication and loyalty to the Bantams and he will truly be missed," Wilson added.
