DEVELOPING: Attempted Murder Suspect In Spokane Area

UPDATE: The US Marshals Service has confirmed with KHQ that Britton Michael Hanson, the attempted murder suspect, is in the Spokane area. If you see Hanson you're asked to dial 911.

The US Marshals Service and the Benewah County Sheriff's Office are searching for 31-year-old Britton Michael Hanson in connection to a murder. 

In a press release issued Thursday afternoon, the US Marshal's Service says Hanson is wanted for 1st Degree Attempted Premeditated Murder with a Firearm. Though details on the incident are still unclear, Benewah County Dispatch says it initially happened in Stevens County and the Marshal's Service has been tracking Hanson ever since. He was last seen in Benewah County Thursday when someone recognized him. 

The Sheriff told KHQ Thursday that Hanson attempted to shoot someone who was working for him in Stevens County. While the specifics are unknown at this time, the Sheriff said about 18 shots were fired within 6 miles. 

Hanson was last seen westbound from Happy Creek off of Benewah Creek Road on foot. 

A picture has not been made available of Hanson, but he is described as a white man, 5'9" with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a Carhartt style coat. The Marshal's Office says Hanson is armed and dangerous.

A spokesperson for the district said that the threat was written on a napkin and shared  on Snapchat. It says: "CHS school shooting 10-19-18. Be ready." Police tell us that while they are still investigating whether the threat is credible, they do not believe the CHS that the note mentions is referring to Coeur d'Alene High School.

    Ramsey Elementary and Coeur d' Alene Police station have been evacuated after an explosive device was brought to the station for disposal.     SPOKANE, Wash. - After struggling with medical issues recently, retired Spokane County Sheriff's Office K9 Laslo passed away early Friday morning.  "It is with the most heavy heart that I tell you K9 Laslo passed away this morning at 0115hrs," a post on Laslo's Facebook page said Friday morning. "There will be a piece of my heart always missing. To the best partner I ever had, R.I.P."
