The Spokane Chiefs lost for the third straight time in as many meetings to the Seattle Thunderbirds this week, as a 3 goal third period lifted Seattle to a 4-2 win over the Chiefs in Kent, WA Saturday night. With the loss, Spokane fell 2 points back of the Thunderbirds into 4th place in the U.S. Division.

Seattle jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period on an Alexander Delnov goal at 11:52. The Chiefs would even the game on a Mitch Holmberg power play goal late in the second to send the game to the third period 1-1. It was Holmberg's league leading 33rd of the season and 11th power play goal, 3rd in the WHL. Colton Bobyk and Jason Fram picked up the assists as Spokane outshot Seattle 15-4 in the period while generating 5 power play chances.

The Thunderbirds would re-take the lead on an Ethan Bear goal just 2:10 into the third period to make it a 2-1 game. Spokane would counter on the penalty kill as Adam Helewka forced the puck free from Bear and Connor Chartier rifled home the loose puck for a shorthanded goal at 5:05 of the period to tie the game at two. Seattle would get the eventual game winner on a power play goal from Ryan Gropp at 10:20 of the 3rd to take a 3-2 lead and would wrap up the win on an empty net goal with 30 seconds remaining.

Spokane outshot Seattle 30-22 in the game, going 1-7 on the power play and 5-6 on the penalty kill. The Chiefs will return home to face the Everett Silvertips Wednesday night at 7:05pm. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
