SPOKANE, Wash. - Mitch Holmberg and Mike Aviani reminded everyone why they’re both a force to be reckoned with, as the two combined for nine total points in the Chiefs 6-3 win over Prince George on Teddy Bear Toss Night in front of 8,825 fans at the Spokane Arena on Saturday night.

Just 4 minutes and 35 seconds into the game, thanks to an unassisted goal by Holmberg, 6,767 teddy bears flew onto the ice rink - a new Spokane record. Holmberg finished with two goals and two assists while Aviani amassed a whopping four assists and one goal. Holmberg leads the WHL with 74 total points, and Aviani is seventh with 49.

Spokane came out of the gate strong as Adam Helewka, Jeremy McIntosh and Aviani each scored a goal in the first period to give the Chiefs a 4-0 lead going into the first intermission. Aviani was credited with an assist for two of the period’s goals, as was Holmberg.

In the second period, the Cougars fought back by scoring three goals of their own. Former Spokane Chief Todd Fiddler scored two of them, and assisted on the third. Fiddler has 16 goals and 20 assists on the season.

Jeff Rayman extended Spokane’s lead to 5-3 by scoring his first career goal off feeds from both Dominic Zwerger and Aviani. Holmberg would add his second goal, this one on a power play, at the 14:06 mark for the game’s final margin.

Spokane next returns to the Spokane Arena on Saturday, December 28th, for a battle against the Eastern Conference’s Kootenay Ice.

Tickets for all Chiefs home games are available in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office, over the phone at (509) 535-PUCK, via TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
