SPOKANE, WA (December 16, 2013) – The Spokane Shock have been assigned quarterback Erik Meyer to the 2014 roster.

Erik Meyer (6-2, 210, Eastern Washington) rejoins the Shock for the 2014 AFL season. Meyer opened the 2012 AFL season as the Shock's starter however; his season would be cut short after sustaining a season ending injury in the opening game of the season against the Iowa Barnstormers. After beginning the 2011 season with the Utah Blaze, Meyer would rejoin the Shock roster via a midseason trade. In five games for Spokane he would go on to complete 80 of 107 pass attempts (74.8%) for 967 yards and 22 touchdowns with only three interceptions. Prior to his introduction to the AFL, Erik spent time spent time with the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2009), the NFL's Oakland Raiders (2008), Seattle Seahawks (2007), and NFL Europe's Cologne Centurions after signing as an undrafted free agent in the 2006 NFL Draft with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Meyer spent his collegiate career at Eastern Washington University. During his collegiate career, he would amass 10,261 yards and 84 touchdowns with only 17 interceptions in 42 games. During his junior and senior seasons, Meyer would be named the Big Sky Conference's Offensive Player of the Year and go on to earn the Walter Payton Award as a senior in 2005.

SPOKANE, WA (December 16, 2013) – The Spokane Shock have been assigned offensive lineman Matt Cleveland and quarterback Jarrett Brown to the 2014 roster.

Matt Cleveland (6-4, 305, Idaho) joins the Shock for his rookie AFL season in 2014. While playing his collegiate football at the University of Idaho, Matt played alongside familiar Shock faces including former OL Tyron Novikoff (CFL Edmonton) and current OL Samuel Tupua. During his first season with the Vandals in 2008 Matt would suffer a season ending injury in fall camp, however, returning to the field the following season he would make an immediate impact and start all 13 games at left tackle as a part of an offensive unit that finished sixth in the nation in pass efficiency. In 2010, he would continue his streak of starts playing all 13 games for the Vandal's offense that would rank third in the WAC and 10th nationally in passing offense. During his final collegiate season in 2011, Matt earned second-team all-WAC honors after starting all 12 games of the season. He would go on to be signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012 by the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

"Matt is a versatile offensive lineman with NFL and CFL experience. We're excited about the opportunity to have him in Spokane next season and expect him to compete right away," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.

Jarrett Brown (6-3, 220, West Virginia) joins the Shock for his rookie AFL season in 2014 after playing his collegiate football at West Virginia University. As a Mountaineer, Jarrett took over as the starting quarterback in 2009 with the departure of Pat White and completed 187 of 296 pass attempts (62.3%) for 2,144 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 117 rush attempts for 466 yards and 6 scores while leading West Virginia to the 2010 Gator Bowl against Florida State. Brown played in the 2010 Senior Bowl where scouts were impressed with his strong arm and quick release. He would go on to sign as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers after the 2010 NFL Draft and would also spend time with the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts.

"Jarrett is an amazing athlete that can make all the throws while having the ability to make plays with his feet," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.
