Spokane Post Office Is Ready For The Holidays

KHQ.COM - Some people say there's no place like home for the holidays - but there's also no place like the post office during the busy holiday season. The Spokane Processing and Distribution Center is no different.

Last night was their busiest night of the year - they processed over 2 million pieces of mail - twice the volume of the average processing night. "Santa's elves are very busy and we absolutely love it here at the post office," said plant manager Jim Brenneman of his 250 employees.

"Everybody steps up, employees like it, you'll see people wearing hats, Santa hats, everybody's got a smile on their face, they work a lot of hours but they really love doing it."

Brenneman advises sending your holiday mail out by December 21st if you want to guarantee it arrives at your desired destination by Christmas.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It's been an incredibly difficult couple of months for Kaley Hilderbrand and her family. "We're in the middle of moving from an apartment to a house," Hilderbrand said.  It's not something the mom of a brand new baby girl though she would be doing. Back in April, the soon-to-be-married mother of three was living in a north Spokane apartment complex when she received an angry letter about doing laundry at night.
