Shock Add Trio Of New Players

by Spokane Shock Media Relations

SPOKANE, WA – The Spokane Shock have been assigned wide receivers David Lewis and Daniel Moore along with defensive back Lowell Rose to the 2014 roster.

David Lewis (6-4, 230, Southern Illinois) joins the Shock for his rookie AFL season in 2014. During his early seasons as a Salukis, Lewis was utilized in a variety of offensive packages with his large frame and great athletic ability. As a Senior in 2012, Lewis played in all 11 games and was third on the team in receptions (27), yards (315) and touchdowns (2) while being the only player to record a reception in every game. Upon completing his collegiate career and finishing school, Lewis spent a short time with the IFL’s Green Bay Blizzard in 2013 where he played in four games and recorded nine receptions for 145 yards and three touchdowns.

“He’s [Lewis] a big frame guy that plays extremely physical and has the ability to gain yards after the catch,” said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.

Daniel Moore (6-4, 205, South Carolina) joins the Shock for his rookie AFL season in 2014 after spending time during the 2013 season with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes. Moore played all four of his collegiate football seasons as a Gamecock and recorded 40 receptions for 454 yards and 6 touchdowns. During his prep career at Bowling Green High School (KY), Moore was ranked as the ninth best player in the state and second-rated receiver as he earned first-team all-state honors while being a two-time first-team conference performer. During his senior prep season, he set school single-season marks with 63 receptions for 1,350 yards and 13 touchdowns.

“Moore is a long wide receiver that makes amazing catches look routine. His CFL experience running the motion should help him transition to the AFL game quickly and we expect him to compete right away,” said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.

Lowell Rose (6-1, 195, Tulsa) joins the Shock for his rookie AFL season in 2014 after spending time as an undrafted Free Agent with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers in 2013. During his final season at Tulsa in 2012, Rose recorded 56 total tackles (45 solo), ten pass break ups, two forced fumbles (one recovery) and two interceptions on the year. During his three collegiate seasons at Tulsa (36 games) he recorded 113 total tackles (83 solo), 21 pass break ups, and three interceptions. Prior to Tulsa, Rose was a true freshman walk-on in 2008 at UCLA but did not play in 2009 while recovering from injury. During his prep career at Culver City High School (CA) he helped his team to a three-year record of 33-6 while rushing for 1,300 yards as a running back and totaled 70 tackles as a strong safety his senior season.

“We were really looking to add some size to our defensive secondary going into the 2014 season and Rose is exactly that type of player as he’s physical and is comfortable in press coverage,” said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.
