Two people were taken to the hospital Thursday night following a serious crash in north Spokane.

It happened at about 8:00pm at Nevada and Cozza just north of Francis. Spokane Police tell KHQ that a red car and a blue car were traveling northbound on Nevada at a high rate of speed when an SUV attempted to turn in front of them. The SUV was hit by the red car and the collision caused the red car to be thrown into the blue car.

The driver of the red car was taken to the hospital and we are told he is in critical condition. The driver of the blue car was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Neither of the drivers have been identified, however we are told the driver of the blue car is 19-year-old.

Both drivers could face charges depending on what investigators find.

Police say there was a family in the SUV, including an infant, and they were checked out by medics on scene. Amazingly, they did not have any injuries.

Investigators will be on scene for the majority of Thursday night and they are asking citizens to avoid the area.

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - An extensive effort to capture and kill non-native lake trout in Yellowstone Lake is showing progress with fewer of the invasive fish being found. Yellowstone National Park fisheries chief Todd Koel says so far this year about 155,000 lake trout have been caught, which is down 63,000 from this time last year. Koel tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide that it's a sign that the lake trout population is finally crashing.
