Women's Basketball Moves Up One Spot In AP Poll

SPOKANE, Wash. – (Dec. 23, 2013 - www.GoZags.com) The Gonzaga University women's basketball team moved up one spot in the Associated Press Top 25, moving up to 24th in Monday's poll.

 

The Bulldogs gained 13 votes for a total of 89 after closing out non-conference play at 10-2 with wins over UC Riverside and Washington State University this week.

 

The University of Connecticut continues to be the unanimous top choice receiving all 36 first place votes for a total of 900. The Huskies are currently 12-0 on the year, with their wins coming by an average of 37.8 points per game.

 

One other West Coast Conference institution is ‘also receiving votes'. Saint Mary's College, who is 10-1 on the year, earned 20 votes this week.

 

Gonzaga opens league play at Saint Mary's. The opening game of WCC is set for Saturday, Dec. 28 in Moraga, Calif., at 1 p.m.
