PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Around 6am Thursday morning police responded to an apartment complex at 515 S. Farr in Spokane Valley where two suspects pulled a handgun on 64-year-old woman while trying to steal her car.

Deputy Craig Chamberlin said the woman went out to her vehicle and saw two men in hoodies inside her car. When she confronted them, one of the suspects pulled a hand gun on her and told her to get on the ground. The woman followed their instructions and after she was on the ground the suspects took off in an unknown direction.

Police arrived on scene with a K9 unit and tried to track the suspects but were unsuccessful in their search. The woman was unable to get any sort of description of the suspects. All she knows for sure is that they were two males wearing hoodies.

The suspects were trying to steal a Suzuki GV 4-door. All they stole from inside the vehicle was a GPS unit.

Police do not recommend anyone confront suspected car thieves but rather call police. Anyone with information on this incident should call police immediately.

SPOKANE, Wash. - You already have to be 21 to buy alcohol, but if the Spokane Regional Health District has anything to say about it, that could soon apply to cigarettes too. They're hoping to make it harder for teenagers to buy and become addicted to cigarettes. The Board of Health in Spokane County has voted unanimously in favor of a resolution that would make teens wait longer to start smoking legally.
