Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Accident in Richland Turns Fatal

UPDATE/RICHLAND, WA - Richland Police say a pedestrian hit Thursday night in the intersection of Lee boulevard and Stevens drive has died.

62-year-old Margaret Carraher died at Kadlec Regional Medical Center from head injuries several hours later.

Officers say a vehicle was turning onto westbound Lee from Gillespie when Carraher, who was wearing dark clothing, stepped into the street around 5PM Thursday. Carraher was not in the crosswalk at the time of the accident. Police say Carraher was hit and thrown to the ground causing head injuries.  

Carraher was transported from the scene by the Richland Ambulance to Kadlec ER, where she died from those injuries.  

The investigation is still ongoing.

RICHLAND, WA - The Richland Police Department is investigating a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the area of Stevens Drive and Lee Boulevard.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. Thursday. Richland police say an older woman either tripped or fell into the roadway in front of Rite Aid and a car hit her.

Paramedics took her to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Officers tell NBC Right Now the last they heard she was either in serious or critical condition.
