UPDATE: One In Custody In Fatal Deer Park Shooting

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -

The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office released the identity, cause and manner of death of the man who died at Sacred Heart Medical Center on January 5, 2014 following a shooting in Deer Park. 

53-year-old Harry Giesbrecht died from a "perforating gunshot wound to the head," a release stated Monday. 61-year-old Richard Klepacki was arrested in connection to the murder and is facing 1st Degree Murder charges.

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: On Saturday night, January 4th, 2014, at 9:15 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a shooting call at 204 E. D Street in Deer Park. Deputies located an adult male in one of the apartments that was the victim of a single gunshot to his head. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died Sunday morning.
 
Deputies spoke with a witness at the apartment. The witness said there was a loud knock on the door. The victim opened the door and an adult male shot the victim in the head. There were no words exchanged and two persons were seen running from the scene. 
 
Deputies searched the area and located 61-year-old Richard Klepacki hiding behind bushes at a local middle school. Klepacki was subsequently arrested and booked into jail for the charge of First Degree Murder. Spokane County Major Crimes Detectives have been investigating the incident since Saturday night and the investigation is ongoing.

DEER PARK, Wash. - One person has been confirmed dead after a shooting at Pinecrest Apartments in Deer Park Saturday night.

Authorities tell us they have one person in custody. That person has been booked into the Spokane County Jail on First Degree Murder charges.

Deputies were out Saturday night and all day Sunday canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with potential witnesses.

They are unclear of the motive for the shooting.
