Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: On Monday night January 6, 2014, at approximately  8:00 pm SPD's PACT team was assisting the US Marshalls locating 32 year-old Gary Todd who was wanted on a Department of Corrections Escape warrant as well as another warrant for 3rd Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

PACT officers located Todd in the area of 10th/Maple driving a stolen 2013 Ford Focus. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Todd rammed one of SPD's K-9's patrol cars while K-9 Rav was inside, while attempting to escape. With the help of citizen reports, officers were able to follow Todd to the area of 27th/Mt Vernon where he fled the vehicle on foot with his girlfriend, 27 year-old Kristin Edwards.

They were located approximately an hour later after a homeowner found them hiding in their laundry room. Todd was booked into jail on his warrants. Edwards was booked into jail for a local warrant for Criminal Assistance and also Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine. More charges are expected including 2nd Assault, Possession of a Motor Vehicle, and Eluding.

Neither the officer or K-9 were injured in the collision; however his vehicle was taken out of service due to the damage sustained in the collision.

Todd is a prolific criminal and has had numerous past contacts with law enforcement.

PREVIOUS STORY:

Two people are in custody after they rammed a stolen car into a police car Monday night.

Just after 8:00pm the PACT Team tried stopping a white Ford Focus near 3rd and Chestnut in Browne's Addition before it took off. A short time later a K-9 Unit spotted the same car driving the wrong way near 10th and Walnut. As police tried to box the car in, the driver rammed a police car and sped away.

A short time later, the stole car was found abandoned in an apartment complex near 27th and Mt. Vernon on the south hill.

Officers set up a perimeter and brought in a K-9 Unit to look for the people who were in the car. They eventually located the driver and the passenger. They are identified as Gary Todd and Christine Edwards.

Both are facing multiple charges and Todd had an outstanding warrant.

The incident remains under investigation.
