Crime Tracker: BBB Warns Of Seahawks Ticket Scams

SEATTLE, Wash. - Big time Seahawks fans are looking to get their hands on playoff tickets to watch Seattle take on the New Orleans Saints Saturday. However, the Better Business Bureau says to make sure those tickets are the real deal before you buy them.

Here’s some advice offered up by the BBB:
  • Spot the fakes. Learn how real tickets look and feel; watch for flimsy paper, smeared ink and uneven margins. When in doubt, walk away.
  • Go with star players. Use reliable and verifiable ticket sellers and resellers that hold vendors responsible for ticket authenticity.
  • Avoid the sack. Never wire funds to make purchases. Use credit cards online and dispute the charges if tickets don’t arrive or turn out to be fakes.
  • Call a timeout. Avoid sellers that fail to provide contact information or prefer to conduct transactions privately. When buying tickets from local sellers, meet them in well-lit public places and bring a friend.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - All the danger signs around the suspect in the Florida school shooting were not enough for relatives, authorities or his school to request a judicial order that might have barred him from possessing guns.    Just five states have laws that allow family members, guardians or police to ask judges to temporarily strip gun rights from people who show warning signs of violence.
