Murder Suspects Arrested In Shoshone County

SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho - Two murder suspects wanted in Washington were arrested in Shoshone County Thursday night.

A press release sent out by the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office on Friday stated that just after 9:00pm, Sgt. William Eddy of the Pinehurst Police Department located a vehicle in Pinehurst that had previously been aired out over dispatch as an attempt to locate. Sgt. Eddy, with the assistance of Shoshone County Sheriff's Deputies, and the Kellogg Police Department stopped the vehicle and found two juvenile boys inside. Both boys had warrants out for their arrest our of Thurston County, Washington for Murder in the 1st Degree. Both males were arrested and their extradition proceedings back to Washington are pending.

The boys were not identified in the press release.

Media on the west side of the state are saying the boys arrested Thursday night were wanted for the robbery and murder of a Lacey man that happened Wednesday night. The victim, 34-year-old Daniel Smith, died on scene after being shot by one of the suspects in the shoulder and arm pit. Three other suspects were arrested in connection to the crime, but two other boys were still wanted in connection to the shooting. Those are the two who were arrested Thursday night in Pinehurst.

Detectives are saying the shooting happened during a deal for marijuana. They say the group met Smith at a grocery store to buy the weed, but when they didn't have money, Smith took off. Another deal was apparently worked out to buy the marijuana at an apartment complex. That's when prosecutor's say the group surrounded Smith's car and when he didn't give them the marijuana, he was shot and killed.
