Gonzaga University women’s basketball senior Haiden Palmer was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to two road victories this past week. The guard averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting 54.5 percent (18-of-33) from the field and 50.0 percent from the 3-point arc (5-of-10).

Palmer began the week recording her second 30-plus point game of the season, scoring a career-high 32 points in the Zags 91-82 overtime victory at Loyola Marymount University. She joined five other Zag players to have scored 32 points in a game – which is the sixth highest point total in Zag history. She hit a career-tying high 14 field goals in the victory – including two 3-pointers – and sank 2-of-3 free throws. Seventeen of her points came in the opening stanza, while five of her points came in the crucial overtime. Palmer also made three steals and grabbed seven boards – three of which were offensive.

The Moreno Valley, Calif., native followed that performance up by scoring 11 points – her fifth-straight double-digit outing - in the Bulldogs 69-39 win at Pepperdine University. She hit 4-of-9 from the field, including a season-tying high three 3-pointers. She added three assists and one steal in 26 minutes of action.

Palmer’s play allowed Gonzaga to close out the first half of league action with an 8-1 record and improve its overall mark to 18-3.

This is Palmer’s first WCC Player of the Week honor of the season and the fourth of her career.
