The Spokane Chiefs snapped a season high 4 game losing streak, scoring 4 goals in the third period on their way to a 7-3 win over the Tri City Americans Saturday night in Kennewick, WA. With the win, Spokane has now won 6 of 8 meetings from the Americans this season.

Tri City took a 1-0 lead just 1:28 into the game on a Braden Purtill goal. Spokane would score their first goal in a week when Colton Bobyk notched his 4th goal in his last 4 games with a score at 10:02 of the first to tie the game at one after the first period. Tri City outshot Spokane 15-5 in the period. The Chiefs would take a 2-1 lead on Mike Aviani's 31st goal of the season at 8:57 of the second period. Riley Whittingham and Jason Fram picked up the assists. Marcus Messier would score his first goal as a Chief on a tip of a Reid Gow shot at 14:09 to stake Spokane to a 3-1 lead. Fram also secured his second helper of the contest. Tri would cut the lead to 3-2 after two on a Beau McCue power play goal.

Eric Williams, who turned aside 31 shots on the night, stopped Lucas Nickles breakaway early in the third that could have tied the game and then Dominic Zwerger finished off a Connor Chartier pass less than a minute later to give the Chiefs a 4-2 lead. Keanu Yamamoto also had an assist on the goal. Carter Proft would then score his 8th of the season on a tip of a Fram shot at 7:48 to make it 5-2 Chiefs. Adam Helewka would snap home his 19th of the year from Mitch Holmberg at 11:28 to put the Chiefs up 6-2. Yamamoto would cap the scoring for Spokane with his 5th of the season from Zwerger at 12:16 to give the Chiefs a 7-2 lead. The Americans Brian Williams finished the scoring with a power play goal at 14:32.

Tri City outshot Spokane 34-28 while the Chiefs went 0-3 on the power play and 3-5 on the penalty kill. The Chiefs will finish off 3 games in 3 nights on the road Sunday afternoon when they travel to Everett to meet the Silvertips at 4:05pm.
