Obama Hails Close Relationship Between US, France

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is hailing America's close relationship with France.

Obama says the closeness the U.S. now shares with one of its oldest and closest allies would have been unimaginable after President George W. Bush launched an unpopular war against Iraq. Obama says the transformation stands as a testament to how Washington and Paris have worked to transform their alliance.

Obama spoke of how U.S. and French military and intelligence personnel, diplomats and others collaborate on issues every day.

Obama commented Tuesday during a White House news conference with French President Francois Hollande who is in the U.S. on a state visit.
