SPOKANE, Wash. – The third period began precisely how the Spokane Chiefs were hoping, as captain Reid Gow capitalized right after the conclusion of a power play to knot the game up at 1-1 just 1 minute into the final period. But as time wound down – and with overtime looming as the ultimate possibility – Kelowna’s Cole Linaker tipped the puck past goalie Eric Williams with 27 seconds remaining to push the Rockets past the Chiefs 2-1 on Wednesday night.

After the Rockets scored an early goal in the first period, the game quickly turned into a goaltender showdown. Williams stopped 32 of 34 shots overall, including a diving stick save in the middle of the third period to prevent Kelowna from taking a lead. Kelowna’s Jordon Cooke made save after save, controlling rebounds en route to stopping 29 of 30 shots, despite Spokane finding plenty of quality looks.

Kelowna, the No. 1 team in the CHL, went 1 for 4 on the man advantage with the Myles Bell putting one in on the power play in the 1st. Spokane finished 0 for 3 when on the power play.

Spokane returns home this Saturday, February 15th as they play host to rival Tri-City Americans on Supercuts Buck Night and CheerStix Giveaway.

Tickets for Saturday and all Chiefs home games are available in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office, over the phone at (509) 535-PUCK, via TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
