10-Year-Old Boy Falls 20 Feet From Chairlift At Mt. Spokane

Mt. Spokane Mt. Spokane

KHQ.COM - After falling off a chairlift at Mt. Spokane, a 10-year-old boy is lucky because it look like he only suffered minor injuries. Around 11am Thursday morning the Mt. Spokane Ski Patrol responded to a boy who fell about 20 feet off of chair 3. He fell into the snow and immediately stood up. A witness who saw the fall told the boy to lay down.

Ski Patrol put him on a tobaggon and Medstar flew him out to get him off the mountain. It did not appear that the boy sustained any major injuries although he did complain of back pain. It is not exactly clear what caused the boy to fall. Winds were calm at the time so it's possible that he was not seated properly.

Brad McQuarrie, general manager of Mt. Spokane said that in the 12 years he has worked there, he can only remember two times that people have fallen from chairs. The loss control manager will be conducting an investigation with state inspectors.
