GRANT COUNTY, Wash. -

A robbery at Sandoval’s Food Store in George has left two employees and a customer traumatized and afraid to go back. The robbery was not just a typical smash and grab job. Instead, the two women working were tied up, along with a customer who walked in while it was happening.

One employee was forced to lay on the floor and the other had a gun put in her mouth while the robbers forced her to hand over the cash. Now, the owner says everyone involved is still scared and trying to deal with what they went through.

“They're pretty much traumatized,” said Ezequiel Sandoval, the owner of Sandoval’s Food Store where the robbery happened. “Supposedly, the lady they pointed the gun to her head, she can't sleep, she can't eat, she’s not coming back to work, so it's bad.”

The robbery happened just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday. All four men were wearing masks, but the owner hopes someone will see the surveillance video and help identify the suspects.

The men took all the cash in the register and even knew enough to make one of the women get the money that was locked up in a safe. Sandoval says the store also does money orders and wire transfers, so the robbers got away with a lot.

After the men left the store, the two women and a customer were able to untie themselves and call 911. However, Sandoval says because there is no local law enforcement near the store, it took twenties minutes for them to arrive.

The robbery happened right before closing and because the suspects knew to ask for money in the safe, Sandoval thinks the robbers were customers in the past

“My guess is somebody local, who knows everything what's going on here,” Sandoval said. “They knew that at the time there were only girls working.”

The suspects left in a stolen car, but it was found empty down the road. Police think they may have gotten into another car.

As a result of the robbery, the store has now lost a regular customer and one of its best employees because both are too traumatized to come back.

The owner says he will also make sure there is at least one guy working at night in case something like this happens again. If you have any information you are asked to call the Grant County Sheriff's Office at 509-762-1160, or send info to crimetips@co.grant.wa.us. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

PRESS RELEASE FROM GRANT COUNTY: Grant County Detectives are asking the public for help finding four masked gunman who robbed Sandoval’s Market in George last night.

Around 8 p.m. Feb. 13 the four men entered the store, forced the two store clerks to hand over the store’s cash, and then tied them up. A customer who entered the store during the robbery was also tied up. Nobody was injured during the robbery.

A black 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was seen in front of the store at the time of the robbery. The Avalanche was found abandoned a short distance away on Beverly Burke Road Southwest after the robbery. The Avalanche had been listed as stolen out of the Tri-Cities. It’s probable the robbers abandoned the Avalanche and got into one or more other vehicles to escape.

Anyone with information, or who saw any unusual people or vehicles in or near George last night are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 509-762-1160, or send info to crimetips@co.grant.wa.us. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
