PORTLAND, Ore. - The FBI has informed KHQ that fugitive Kevin Anthony Briggs was arrested Friday evening in Portland, Oregon by a multi-agency law enforcement task force.

The FBI says investigation by law enforcement and tips from the public helped them catch Briggs.

Briggs will remain in custody in Oregon, pending his extradition back to Montana.

Kevin Anthony Briggs, a convicted felon and registered sex offender, was wanted for his alleged involvement in the assaults of a female and a police officer in Bozeman, Montana.

On the morning of February 1, 2014, a woman called the Bozeman Police Department to report an assault, and said that her attacker had attempted to strangle her before he left. Shortly thereafter police located Briggs, at which time he allegedly resisted arrest and hit an officer in the face. Upon transfer to the Law and Justice Center in Bozeman, Briggs escaped custody.

Late in the evening on February 1, 2014, Briggs is believed to have traveled to Missoula, Montana, where he bought a one-way bus ticket to Spokane, Washington.

On February 7, 2014, a federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution warrant was obtained in the United States District Court for the District of Montana, Missoula, Montana, based on the state charges of aggravated assault, attempted sexual intercourse without consent, assault on a peace officer, and escape.

At the time of the incident, Briggs was on probation for previous convictions (in 2004) of sexual intercourse without consent, aggravated kidnapping, escape, and burglary in Lewis and Clark County, Montana.

He was finally arrested Friday evening in Portland, Oregon.

SPOKANE, Wash. - From the outside, the Repeat Boutique looks like a lot of other thrift shops in Spokane.  Inside, some might describe the stuff for sale as old, used, discarded garbage -- but store manager CJ Curtis sees its potential. And just like the goods in her shop, CJ is on her way to a new life, one far from the one she once lived.

SPOKANE, Wash. - "He told me to pull over, and my jaw just dropped," a Spokane woman, who says a fake police officer tried to pull her over, doesn't want to be named. In fear, this could happen again. "It really scared me and kind of threw me off that night. I don't even want to drive by myself anymore," she said. She tells me that she was driving around North Spokane at night on her way home from work.

(AP) - Days before sentencing, Bill Cosby's trial judge denied a defense motion to step down from the sex assault case because of what Cosby's team called a long-ago grudge with a pretrial witness.
