SPOKANE, Wash. -

It should have been a quiet Saturday night in Spokane’s Logan neighborhood – but it was anything but.

“Two police were at the door and they said, ‘Do you know there’s a fire outside your house?’” one homeowner told KHQ’s Kelsey Watts, who asked not to be identified.

That knock came just after 2 a.m.; the man and his wife ran outside their North Columbus home in their pajamas to find a large bush and fence on the side of their home in flames.

“The roof was starting to burn, but we've got enough of an overhang here nothing went inside the house," he added.

The fire was quickly put out – but as it turns out, that was just the beginning.

Spokane firefighters responded to three other fires, all within a few blocks of each other, and set minutes apart. A storage shed on North Hogan was a complete loss at $10,000, while a couch was set on fire next to a detached garage at Helena & Fairview, and garbage cans were lit ablaze on East Liberty.

“The [firefighters] were getting messages on their radios like, ‘There’s another one over here! There’s another one over here!’”

Now, arson investigators believe the same person or people are behind all four cases, and while they look for any surveillance video that may have captured the suspect(s), the questions of who is responsible and why they did it remain unanswered.

“Why my house? And why the garbage cans?” the homeowner added. “I mean, they could have done a lot more damage by doing something else."

Coffee is life: Washington woman's hands-free drinking tip goes viral

VANCOUVER, Wash. - With Washington's new distracted driving law in effect, holding a phone while behind the wheel could cost you. In addition to the cell phone crackdown, the law makes eating, drinking or other activities that could potentially take your hands off the wheel secondary offenses. That means if you run a stop sign while drinking a cup of coffee and get pulled over for running the stop sign, you could get a $99 fine for drinking that coffee.
