Posted: Updated:

CYBERSPACE (AP) - Here is something to think about the next time your pooch leaves an unwelcome "souvenir" on your carpet or chews up some of your furniture. When you scold them and they get that, well, hangdog look - they aren't really feeling sorry about what they did. Dog experts say that dogs - like some humans - simply have no shame. Even though dogs seem to be all torn up inside about their transgressions, the look of shame is a reaction to the way their owners are carrying on - not because they are sorry they chewed your new shoes to bits. But all that science hasn't stopped the growth of dog-shaming sites online. On the sites, people post shots of remorseful looking dogs - along with "confessions" of their misdeeds.
