    NEW YORK (AP) - Jon Hendricks, the pioneering jazz singer and lyricist who with the trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross popularized the "vocalese" singing style in which words were added to instrumental songs, has died.   The New York Times reports his daughter, Aria Hendricks, confirmed his Wednesday death at a Manhattan hospital. He was 96.

    MOSCOW (AP) - Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 55.   Hvorostovsky's office said in a statement Wednesday that the acclaimed singer "died peacefully" earlier and was "surrounded by family" near his home in London. "May the warmth of his voice and his spirit always be with us," the statement said.

Rumors have been running rampant in Baltimore about the unsolved case.
