One Person Arrested In Coeur d'Alene In Connection To Spokane Kidnapping

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

Idaho State Police arrested one man in connection to a Spokane kidnapping after a standoff in Coeur d'Alene near Fernan Elementary on Thursday. 

Spokane Police confirmed the man arrested was wanted in connection to the kidnapping investigation that happened earlier in the day on W. Knox.

The warrant execution in Spokane happened Thursday afternoon in the 1500 block of W. Knox. Several people were taken into custody in connection to a local kidnapping. Police have not identified anyone who has been arrested yet, including the person taken into custody in Coeur d'Alene. 

The investigation is ongoing, and as soon as we confirm any additional details, we will update this story. 


UPDATE from Coeur d'Alene Police Department: 

"Traffic flow is being released back to normal in the area of Fernan Elementary and the 700 block of N. 21st. The Police action has been concluded. Fernan Elementary students are being released as they normally are. Coeur d’Alene Police were assisting the Idaho State Police and the U.S. Marshals Office in locating a wanted fugitive."

Coeur d'Alene Police are currently in the area of 700 21st St. attempting to apprehend a fugitive. As a result Fernan Elementary School was temporarily locked down. 

Sgt. Christie Wood said school resource officers are at the school assisting the staff with releasing students. The buses will run normally, but if you need to pick up your child, please drive off of Sherman Ave. at 21st to Garden Ave., or by driving east or west on Garden Ave. No car or foot traffic will be allowed north of Garden on 21st.
