UPDATE: Bonners Ferry Teen Arrested For Possession Of Explosive Device

UPDATE: 19-year-old Allen Avery was taken into custody by Bonners Ferry Police Sunday in connection to a pipe bomb going off outside a home on the 7300 block of Apache Street at 1:18am.

Here's the press release from Bonners Ferry Police:

The Bonners Ferry Police Dept. received a dispatch call at 1:18 AM regarding detonation of an explosive device in the 7300 block of Apache Street at a residence.

Assistant Bonners Ferry Police Chief Foster Mayo was first on scene, and discovered two injured males at which time he secured the scene and called in additional assistance. Both injured males were transported to the Boundary Community Hospital for treatment and were released.

An investigation by Bonners Ferry Police, Idaho State Police, and Federal ATF agents determined the device was a pipe bomb which had been placed at the front door of the home. The two male residents opened the door, saw the pipe bomb and closed the door as the device exploded injuring both men.

Bonners Ferry Police Chief Bob Boone reports the investigation led to the apprehension and arrest of suspect Allen Avery for the possession of an explosive device.
