KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - The Malaysian military says it has radar evidence showing the missing Boeing 777 jetliner changed course and made it to the Malacca Strait, hundreds of kilometers (miles) away from the last location reported by civilian authorities.

The development injects new mystery into the investigation of the flight's disappearance.

Local newspaper Berita Harian quoted Malaysian air force chief Gen. Rodzali Daud as saying radar at a military base had detected the airliner near Pulau Perak, at the northern approach to the strait.

A high-ranking military official involved in the investigation confirmed the report on Tuesday and also said the aircraft was believed to be flying low.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.

Airline probing report 2 visited cockpit in 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Malaysia Airlines says it is investigating an Australia television report that the co-pilot on its missing flight had invited two women to stay in the cockpit for a flight two years ago.

Jonti Roos described the encounter on the program "A Current Affair." It aired multiple still photographs from Roos that showed the women inside the cockpit and the pilots apparently working the plane's controls.

The airline said late Tuesday it wouldn't comment about the report until its investigation into it is complete.

Roos said Fariq Abdul Hamid and the second pilot talked to her and her friend in the cockpit during the entire flight in December 2011 from Phuket, Thailand, to Kuala Lumpur.

Roos didn't immediately reply to a message sent to her via Facebook.

PREVIOUS STORY:

LYON, France (AP) - Interpol has released an image of two Iranians who were traveling with stolen passports on a missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner. The image showed the two Iranian men boarding a plane at the same time. Interpol secretary general Ronald K. Noble the two men traveled to Malaysia on their Iranian passports, then apparently switched to the stolen Austrian and Italian documents.

Noble says the recent information about the men made terrorism a less likely cause of the plane's disappearance, but that did not allay concerns about the ease of travel involving stolen passports.

The men are identified as a 19-year-old (Pouri Nourmohammadi) and a 29-year-old (Delavar Seyedmohammaderza). The 19-year-old is believed to have planned to seek asylum in Germany.

PREVIOUS STORY:

Thailand (AP) - News reports in Malaysia quote the country's police chief as saying authorities have identified one of the two men who boarded a Malaysian jetliner with stolen passports.

Malaysia's civil aviation chief won't confirm that, but he says the two men were of "non-Asian" appearance.

The plane they boarded disappeared nearly three days ago with 239 people on board. A search involving dozens of ships and planes has turned up nothing.

Thai police and Interpol are questioning the proprietors of a travel agency in a Thai resort town that sold the men one-way tickets.
