Lolo Crash Claims Third Life As Mother Passes Away

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

Two weeks after a head-on crash on Highway 93 near Lolo, killed 9-year-old Meghan Okon, and 23-year-old Hannah Capen, Meghan's mother, Pam Okon, passed away from injuries she sustained in the crash.

A recent post by friends on a CaringBridge website devoted to Pam, say family made the decision to take her off of life support Monday as doctors say there was nothing more that could be done for her medically.

Pam was kept in a coma since the accident, which occurred when the truck driven by Capen swerved over the center line and struck the SUV Pam was driving with her two daughters inside, head-on.

Meghan died at St. Patrick's Hospital the night of the crash and after being treated for injuries, her little sister, Morghan, was released last Tuesday.

A benefit tonight at Bayern Brewery will donate funds from every beer and Ecopack sold to a fund set up for the Okon family.

The event runs from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. but donations can also be made to the Okon Family Fund through Missoula Federal Credit Union.

The Interior Department is rolling back its plan to increase fees at 17 of the nation's most popular parks.  An interior official says the department is amending the plan following major backlash from the public.  The admission hike would have more than doubled fees during the peak summer season, forcing visitors to pay $70 a car. No word yet on exactly how the rates are being revised. >>
