UPDATE: 'Vehicle Of Interest' Found In Connection To Fatal Hit And Run Cleared

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Police say they have cleared both the gold SUV and owner of any wrong doing in connection to a fatal hit and run investigation.

36-year-old Teri Johnson has been cleared in the hit and run death of 55 year old Don Foster. Johnson was never named a suspect or even a person of interest, but her gold GMC Yukon was seen as a vehicle of interest. Court documents name Johnson and her SUV after police issued a search warrant for her phone and vehicle. Police were suspicious of front end damage to her SUV after an unsolved hit and run from FFebruary9th that left 55 year old Don Foster dead.

Police are still asking anyone with any information in the fatal collision to call Crime Check at 456-2233.

Previous Coverage:

Detectives received a tip leading them to a vehicle that may be of interest in a recent fatal hit and run. The accident happened on February 9th near the intersection of Mission and South Riverton. It killed 55-year-old Don Foster. Investigators say a witness saw a gold SUV hit Foster, followed by several other cars. Police recently received a tip that a gold SUV matching that description was parked at a home in North Spokane.

When investigators arrived they questioned the over of the SUV. Detectives also saw damage on the front of the SUV. According to court documents the registered owner told detectives that she had struck a pole in a parking lot on December 13th 2013.

Detectives say the damage was not consistent with hitting a pole. Detectives also say there was a black plastic piece missing from the SUV's grill. That missing piece police say was found at the crash scene. According to court documents the registered owner told police that she had text messages one her phone from the night of December 13th about hitting a pole.

The woman told detectives that she was at home the night of the fatal crash.
