SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Spokane Valley Detectives are investigating a stabbing that happened Wednesday night near 35th and Woodward. Around 7:00pm a Spokane Valley deputy arrived at the home after a stabbing was reported. The deputy found a man lying on the driveway holding his stomach.>>
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - You may remember back on February 26th, when we told you about a stabbing that happened in Spokane Valley near the 3500 block of South Woodward Road. A man told deputies he was working in his garage when he was attacked and stabbed multiple times. Deputies searched for the suspect but never found him. On Thursday, we found out the reason the suspect was never found was because the suspect was actually the victim.

Deputy Craig Chamberlin told KHQ that Major Crimes Detectives interviewed the victim and based on the puncture wound pattern, and evidence at the scene, detectives weren't sure the crime even occurred. Eventually the victim confessed that he staged the entire thing and stabbed himself.

Chamberlin said the victim actually researched how to set up a crime scene on the internet and stabbed himself. The victim told detectives he was upset about a recent breakup with his girlfriend and wanted the attention.

Detectives said they do not anticipate charges for False Reporting at this time.
