Reward Offered For Newman Lake Burglar

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM - On March 18th, 2014, at about 2:00 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Kullman and his K9 partner Deacon responded to a burglary in progress near the 26000 block of East Eastland Drive in Newman Lake. Deputy Kullman spoke with the homeowner who said he and his wife were inside when they heard the alarm chirp in the garage.

He said he looked out in the garage and thought his cat may have set it off. After he came back inside he heard the alarm chirp again. He let his dog out into the back yard and saw the man door in his garage was open and saw a male suspect jumping over his fence and running through his neighbor’s yard.

The homeowner got into his truck and chased the suspect down the street until he jumped another fence near 5000 N. Irrigon. The homeowner said he thought his dog may have bitten the suspect because he was limping as he ran. The homeowner said the suspect was between 20 and 30 yrs. old wearing dark pants and a dark hoodie. He was not able to determine the suspect’s race.

Deputy Kullman and K9 Deacon tracked the suspect through multiple yards until they reached the Idaho State line. Based on Deacon’s track it was obvious to Deputy Kullman the suspect ran into Idaho.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for anyone providing information leading to an arrest in this incident. Persons with information should call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-222-TIPS, or should forward the tip via the Internet website www.crimestoppersinlandnorthwest.org. Tipsters do not have to give their name to collect the cash reward.
