Accident in Benton County Spills Deceased Cows

UPDATE/BENTON COUNTY, WA - Wiser Parkway in Benton County is re-open Friday night, after crews spent hours cleaning up an accident involving deceased cows.

BENTON CO., WA - Wiser Parkway in Benton County is currently closed as crews work to clean up an accident involving deceased cows.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Wiser Parkway and East Badger Road. Deputies say a truck hauling dead cows to a rendering plant was crossing over the railroad tracks. A railroad maintenance vehicle that runs on the tracks hit the semi-trailer and knocked it over.

Deputies say the maintenance vehicle didn't trigger the crossing gates.

Deputies say no one was hurt but the dead cows spilled out into a ravine. As of 4 p.m. deputies told NBC Right Now Wiser Parkway will be closed for at least several more hours.

The accident is under investigation.
