UPDATE/OSO, WA - The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office says six more bodies have been found in the mudslide in Osom bringing the death toll to 14.

The Snohomish County Director of Emergency Management says they have 176 reports of people missing or unaccounted for.

This does not mean 176 people are missing, this is the number of reports they have collected.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

ARLINGTON, WA - Snohomish County Emergency Services says there are now 108 names that have been reported as missing or unaccounted for after the mudslide in Oso, Washington.

Snohomish County emergency management director John Pennington says that doesn't mean there are 108 injuries or fatalities. But he says it's the consolidated list of people reported missing from various sources that authorities are working from.

Pennington says the slide occurred on a Saturday morning, when more people were likely to be home.

At least eight people were killed in the 1-square-mile slide that hit in a rural area about 55 miles northeast of Seattle.

Several people also were critically injured, and about 30 homes were destroyed.

Authorities say the death toll from a massive landslide in rural Washington state has doubled to eight.

Snohomish County sheriff's Lt. Rob Palmer said four more bodies were discovered late Sunday. Earlier in the day, authorities said one body had been found on the debris field. Three people were already confirmed dead on Saturday.

The 1-square-mile mudslide that struck Saturday morning also critically injured several people and destroyed about 30 homes.

At least 18 people remained missing, though authorities warned that number was "fluid."

ARLINGTON, WA - Searchers found another body in the debris from a massive landslide in Washington state, bringing the death toll to at least four.

Snohomish County Fire District 21 Chief Travis Hots said Sunday that crews were able to get out to the debris and found one body buried in the mud. At least 18 people remain missing.
Hots said emergency responders and technical rescue personnel found "no signs of life" as they scoured the area.

The 1-square-mile mudslide that hit Saturday morning also critically injured several people and destroyed about 30 homes.

The slide occurred about 55 miles north of Seattle.
