Spokane Police Looking For Suspect & Stolen Dog After Armed Car Jacking

Posted: Updated:

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: - On Sunday just before 10:45 pm, Spokane Police Patrol received a report of a car-jacking at gunpoint. The report indicated that the male car-jacking victim had parked his car and was unloading items from the car in the 3200 block of N. Ash Place when he noticed a black SUV slowly drive by. The vehicle came to a stop behind the victim’s vehicle and a male (later identified as Jeremy Neal) jumped out of the vehicle, demanding the victim give him his wallet, car keys, cell phone, etc.

A second male suspect got out of the suspect vehicle and threatened the victim with a handgun. The victim also had his small dog with him when the suspects approached him. After threatening the victim, one of the suspects grabbed the victim’s dog and both suspects fled the scene in the victim’s car, with the dog.

In addition to quickly responding to the scene of the incident, SPD officers broadcast a description of the stolen vehicle (a white Pontiac Sunfire) over the radio for officers to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle. Minutes later, officers located the vehicle heading north on Howard near Knox. The vehicle fled from officers, running a stop sign at Buckeye and continuing at a high rate of speed through Corbin Park. The suspect failed to negotiate a turn and collided with a retaining wall near the 1400 block of E. Dalton. The suspect fled the vehicle on foot, but was quickly apprehended by SPD Officer Hamilton and K-9 Leo.

The suspect, 28-year-old Jeremy Neal was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Robbery and Attempt to Elude. Neal will make his first court appearance today at 1:30 pm.

Officers are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the second suspect, described as a male with a dark complexion, possibly Hispanic, approximately 5’ 8” tall, 160-180 lbs., wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The victim’s dog has not been located.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
